Cello Devante'

  Chicago based poet, songwriter, & vocalist Marcelis has been honing his skills in writing and singing for over 20 years.  Since 2002, he has been honored with multiple awards, publications, certificates, trophies, and gracious opportunities to share his craft of writing from Houston, Texas with the NAACP to Martha’s Vineyard, opening for R&B icon, Howard Hewitt of ‘Shalamar’.      From performing and hosting open mics & poetry slams across the city to winning numerous contests, he later blended his poetry and singing into a single force, dawning the name “SpokenHearteD” which would soon elevate his presence in the entertainment world as a recognizable force, leading to collaborations with several Chicago artists as well as meet and greets with powerful musical entities such as Rihanna, Mya, Tank, Dru Hill, and Freddy Jackson.     Marcelis’ evolution as an artist has led to his voice echoing from his hometown of Oak Park, Illinois to various parts of New York City, and to the far reaches of Germany as well as Tokyo, Japan.  Today he’s known as ‘Cello Devante’, the and his specific mission is to use his polished delivery and vicious pen game to help bring back the love songs and keep the true spirit of R&B very much alive for decades to come.
